SUSTAINABLE SHOPPING SERVICE

A 10 week Bachelor degree work in Industrial Design, Umeå institute of design.
In collaboration with Coop /konsum nord 2008.

 

BACKGROUND

User insights

Increased consciousness among
consumers regarding sustainable
issues set a demand of deeper
insight in the making of products.

Psychologist were interviewed about propensity of behavior changes regarding environmental and sustainable lifestyle;
-Consumers are more willing to change from informational influence rather than rules and regulations.

While studying consumers in stores, several problems were discovered related to item information but also how to navigate in stores.

SYSTEM DESIGN

Sustainable factors

In this concept, producers provide data related to a product’s sustainable factors. Information is processed by the system and is presented to the user in a simple and understandable way.

 

 

 

 























Simplifed data

Indication for the product’s sustainable effect is displayed in colors and digits. This to get a fast indication and at the same time see the basic reason for this indication.

PRODUCT RESULT

At home

At home the device is used to write shopping lists and compare items.(Sustainable factors).



In store

In store the device is used for navigation and scanning items.

Finished shopping, feedback
of total effect for purchase and consumption development is displayed.

SERVICE RESULT

More in dept

Through your device, the offered web site or the phone application you can see your shopping development over time. You are able to set your personal profile and your own “sustainable level”. Here is room for even deeper insight, sustainable updates etc.
