ZERO G FOR THE MASSES

A 10 week collaboration project with the 3 MA programs at Umeå Institute of Design:
Advanced Product Design, Interaction Design & Transportation Design.
Designers: Pierre-Alexandre Poirier, Luis Camino & Martin Hanberger
2010.

BACKGROUND
Leik Myrabo, the visioneer of lightcraft technology

The program leader from the transportation design program met with Leik During a conference handling sustainable(?) transportation technologies.

They thought it would be interesting to do a project with the students from Umeå Institute of Design. The aim would be to show possible scenarios on how this technology could be implemented for future air traveling.
FINAL VIDEO
  A non fancy approach

Influenced by cheap air-fares we tried to tell the story of a dude traveling with the most cost reduced alternative(narrow leg space, no meals included etc..) in the year 2053.
LIGHTPORT

Lightport Vancover

Lightbusses traveling into the lightport in Vancover.

Lightport Tokyo East

A smaller but very centric city lightport in east Tokyo.

LIGHTCRAFT
Low cost prior to traveling comfort

If you are travelling the cheapest way possible you can not expect high comfort.

Little relative & Lightnet

Little Relative is a database that contains loads of information, of which some are of a personal nature. It is basically a service where people can voluntarily upload whatever data they choose for it to be reused in many places throughout society. For example, Little Relative can know such generic data as: height, weight, allergies, age, and many more.

Lightnet, quite simply, is the structure that encompasses all of the services that revolve around orbital transportation: from the lightcrafts to the lightports, by way of lightwaits and lightbuses.

Little Relative, like Lightnet, is a part-corporate, part-governmental run service. It can be linked to the Lightsystem in order for it’s functions are honed even more, so that it can know if the passengers: are fit for travel, have enough available funds, are within the Lightservice (for tracking purposes), flight preferences, etc.

Suitbelt & Pukeport

The Suitbelt distributes the pressure of the G-FORCE before entering orbit.

In case of sickness(in fact a very common situation)the Pukeport is placed next to your armrest.
